RESEARCH

Overview

For this project, I designed a platform that helps students connect through complementary skills and working styles. My goal was to create an intuitive experience that fosters collaboration and reduces campus isolation. To achieve this, I conducted user research, analyzed existing platforms, and interviewed students to understand their needs and challenges.

Project Objectives and Goals

The objectives and goals for the contract were as follows:

  • Create and design a social networking platform for students on campus

  • Follow guidelines given by client

  • Mockups and Hi-Fi Wires as deliverables

Target Audience

The client provided me with user personas based off of the short research they had completed. I wanted to use a larger sample size to address potential new pain points and design a product that satisfies the needs of as many users as possible.

My research findings are as follows:

These insights informed the creation of two user personas, which I used as guiding references in designing the app and its features.

Drawing from these personas, I crafted a user journey that maps out the ideal experience, highlighting the steps a user would take from discovering to fully engaging with the app.

Solution

Based on this research, I designed an app that features a clean and modern interface with a focus on the art itself. The app includes a variety of filters and search options that allow users to easily discover new pieces of art and explore different themes and styles. I also incorporated a social aspect into the app, allowing users to share their favorite pieces of art with friends and connect with other art enthusiasts.

Results

I’m incredibly grateful to have been contracted to lead the design for TeamingUp. This project was a rewarding opportunity to tackle the challenge of connecting students in a meaningful way, focusing on intuitive user flows and an engaging interface. Seeing the app come to life and launch on both iOS and Android has been deeply fulfilling. TeamingUp now serves as a platform to foster new relationships and encourage collaboration among students—making a lasting impact on their academic and social experiences. I’m proud to have played a part in bringing this vision to reality.
